Service · Registered Agent

A permanent U.S. presence, quietly kept.

Registered agent coverage in all 50 states — with same-day digital forwarding, privacy shielding, and immediate escalation of anything urgent.

What the service covers

  • Statutory representation — a compliant physical address in your state of formation, staffed during business hours to receive service of process.
  • Same-day digital forwarding — every document scanned to your secure client portal the day it arrives.
  • Urgent escalation — lawsuits, subpoenas, and state deficiency notices flagged to your advisor immediately.
  • Privacy shielding — our address, not yours, on the public record where state law permits.
  • Compliance alerts — annual report and renewal reminders tied to your compliance calendar.

Why it matters for owners abroad

For a founder in Dubai, Singapore, or London, the registered agent is the company's only physical anchor in the United States. If a state notice or legal document is missed, the consequences arrive silently: administrative dissolution, penalties, or a default judgment. Westmark treats the registered agent role as an early-warning system, not a mailbox.

Included with formation. Every Westmark LLC formation includes the first year of registered agent service. Transfers from other agents are handled by us, free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

What is a registered agent?

A registered agent is a person or company with a physical address in your state of formation, designated to receive service of process (lawsuits) and official state correspondence on behalf of your company. Every U.S. LLC and corporation is legally required to maintain one.

Can I be my own registered agent from abroad?

No. A registered agent must have a physical street address in the state of formation and be available during business hours. Non-resident owners must appoint a commercial registered agent such as Westmark.

How quickly will I see my mail?

Documents received at your registered address are scanned and delivered to your secure inbox the same business day, with urgent legal notices flagged immediately.

Does the registered agent address protect my privacy?

In privacy-friendly states such as Wyoming and New Mexico, using our address on formation documents keeps your personal address off the public record.

What happens if I don't maintain a registered agent?

Your company falls out of good standing and may be administratively dissolved by the state. You can also miss a lawsuit and suffer a default judgment. It is the one requirement no U.S. company should ever lapse on.
